Evelyn Esparza-Gonzalez, President of the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, is a dedicated professional with over a decade of experience in nonprofit administration. She has successfully implemented and expanded impactful programming for the Hispanic community in West Michigan.
Originally from Mexico, Evelyn moved to the United States at the age of 15. Her personal experiences have ignited her passion for creating a space where the Latinx community is treated with respect, equity, and dignity. Through her leadership and by cultivating a strong and committed team, Evelyn aims to establish the Hispanic Center as a trusted institution providing high-quality services tailored to the community’s needs.
Evelyn began her professional journey in early childhood, gaining valuable insights into the increasing support required for Latinx families. Her pivotal role in developing the Strong Beginnings’ Familias Fuertes program at Family Futures solidified her dedication to serving the Latinx community. As Finance Director at the Hispanic Center, she successfully restructured and stabilized departments such as Accounting, HR, Fund Development, and Language Services, laying a solid foundation for the organization. Leveraging her expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management, Evelyn’s leadership has significantly enhanced the Center’s financial stability.
Evelyn holds a Master of Accountancy from Davenport University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University. In her personal life, Evelyn treasures her role as a mother to two young boys. Recognizing the importance of guidance and support in educational and career pursuits, she is devoted to empowering and uplifting the next generation.
