Joe Hune is vice president of West Michigan and Upper Peninsula for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
In his role, he is responsible for group business growth and profitability, the delivery of high-quality services, strategy execution oversight, and managing business operations for the Health Plan Business division’s, west Michigan, and upper peninsula operations. Working collaboratively to achieve long-term financial and strategic corporate goals, he partners with enterprise leadership to ensure consumer and provider needs are met efficiently and in the most cost-effective manner.
Hune joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in 2019 after serving in the Michigan Senate as a State Senator for the 22nd District from 2011-2018 and the Michigan House of Representatives as a State Representative of the 47th District from 2002-2008. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus on Healthcare Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Planning from Cleary University.
He services on the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Health and Human Resources Committee, Political Action Committee, and Education and Workforce Committee.
