About Me

Scott joined the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids as President/CEO in January 2016. In this capacity, he works in conjunction with the Association Board of Directors and is responsible for the strategic direction, organizational development and overall operation of the Association’s 8 branch locations, 6 child development centers, 25+ school-aged sites, programs, services, community outreach and staff. The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is a $46M nonprofit organization employing 1,300 staff, serving over 125,000 people annually in Kent, Ottawa, Montcalm and Barry counties.

Previously, he has held the following professional positions: President/CEO of the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy (NJ), Senior Group Vice President of the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity (PA), Executive Director of the Bethlehem Area YMCA (NY), Executive Director of the Albany YMCA (NY), Associate Executive Director of the Northwest Family YMCA (Rochester, NY), Senior Program Director at the Montclair YMCA (NJ) and Aquatics Director at both the Central and Guilford College branches of the Greensboro Metropolitan YMCA (NC).

Scott believes in helping to build community through volunteer board service. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Economic Club of Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids White Water, The State Alliance of Michigan YMCAs, Grand Action 2.0, the Grand River Network and was recently elected to the YMCA of the USA’s National Board of Directors.

Scott’s first YMCA experience began at 6 years old as a kid in swim lessons, which latter led to his first job as lifeguard and swim instructor in high school. Throughout his career, he has dedicated much of his time toward developing staff and volunteers to work with young people to assist them in realizing their full potential.

Scott’s dedication to the Y is evidenced by his 40 years of service, through 7 YMCA Associations and across 5 states.
