Rima Shah, M.D., MBA, is the senior vice president and chief medical officer of Corewell Health in West Michigan. She is accountable for 2,500 employed providers at more than 120 ambulatory sites offering specialties within Corewell Health Medical Group, including Primary Care, Cardiovascular Health, Hospitalists, Orthopedics, Cancer Health, Neurosciences, Women’s Health, Medical Specialties, Digestive Health, Population Health, Virtual Health and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Rima also oversees Clinically Integrated Network.
Background
Rima joined Corewell Health in 2004 as part of the internal medicine residency core faculty. She has held several leadership roles, including, associate program director of the internal medicine residency, associate professor at Michigan State University, vice president of Virtual Health as well as division chief and department chief of Primary Health until 2023.
Education
She received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Khyber Medical College in Pakistan and later received her Executive Master of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University in 2016.
Affiliations and Awards
Rima has been recognized for her dedication to medical excellence and education throughout her career. She received the prestigious 2023 American Medical Group Association Acclaim Award. In 2015, she was honored as both the Outstanding Teacher and Teaching Attending of the Year at Spectrum Health. Her commitment to academic excellence is further reflected by her induction into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society in 2011. Earlier in her career, she earned the John E. Martin Research Award in 2003 and was named Best Intern of the Year in 2001 at Resurrection-Westlake Hospital.
