Huntington Bank Supports Small Business Growth

Last week, Fulton Family Dentistry celebrated the groundbreaking of their new addition. The practice has been operating in the same building since the 1950s, but new owner Sabrina Wadood had a vision for something bigger. “It’s super exciting, it’s been a long time coming,” she said.

Fulton Family Dentistry has been in the same building since the 1950s, and is now getting an expansion.

Wadood purchased the practice after relocating to the area from Detroit. She said it was time to open the practice up to more people and bring the building into the 21st century.

When Wadood needed access to capital, she teamed up with Huntington Bank. Huntington has a long history of helping small businesses get access to the capital they need. They offer programs for a range of businesses, including solutions for dental practices like Fulton Family Dentistry.

“When you’re able to grow a business, you’re able to build a staff and help the community more,” said Alyssa Jester, Business Banking Relationship Manager at Huntington Bank. “She’s been such a joy… they’re going to be able to help their patients a lot more now.”

Dental practices that work with Huntington have access to a variety of services, including a concierge, lending, and practice management solutions.

Another program that Huntington offers is their Lift Local Business program. It’s designed to support small businesses throughout the business life cycle — from start-up to expansion. The program offers loans, business planning support, and other services to assist business owners.

The Lift Local program has a 100 million dollar commitment to supporting minority-, woman-, and veteran-owned small businesses. They’ve given $36 million so far towards the cause. Jester said.

“The Grand Rapids Chamber launched the Center for Economic Inclusion last year, and we are delighted to see key partners, such as Huntington Bank, taking active steps to support diverse-owned businesses in West Michigan. Entrepreneurs like Sabrina are integral to our community, as they not only create jobs but also make this city their home,” declared Omar Cuevas, Vice President of Investor & Corporate Relations for the Grand Rapids Chamber.

“We are passionate about our continued dedication to supporting small businesses like Sabrina’s and fostering a growing and diverse small business community. This commitment is central to our vision of nurturing a thriving and prosperous West Michigan for ALL,” Cuevas continued.

Dr. Wadood was joined by friends, family, staff, and community members at last week’s ribbon cutting

Dr. Wadood and her team are still taking care of patients through the construction process, and they’re hoping to be opening the expansion in the spring.
