Bing Goei Appointed to Grand Rapids Third Ward Seat

This morning, the City Commission selected Bing Goei to fill the vacant Third Ward Commissioner seat. Commissioner Goei will serve out the remaining nine months of the term left by Former Commissioner Nathaniel Moody.

Bing Goei is the Founder of the Goei Center and President & CEO of Eastern Floral. He has been involved in numerous public committees and non-profit boards.

“His voice will be a valuable addition to this body over the next year, and I also want to respect that the residents of the Third ward will be able to cast their own vote and make their own decision on who they wish to represent them for the next 4 years,” said Mayor Bliss.

Commissioner Perdue motioned to appoint Mr. Goei to the position and was supported with a unanimous vote. The appointment will be affirmed tonight at the City Commission meeting and Mr. Goei will be sworn in following the meeting.

Throughout the appointment process, Commissioner Goei has stated he has no intentions of running for a full term this November and will only serve out the remainder of the term he was appointed to fill.

The other two finalists, John Krajewski (a public-school principal) and Marshall Kilgore (Director of Engagement at WMEAC) have both committed to running this fall.
