About the Program

The Grand Rapids Chamber recognizes that fostering inclusion requires creating environments where diverse perspectives can engage in open, honest dialogue to encourage learning and growth.

Aligned with our core value of fostering belongingness, the Institute for Healing Racism is designed as a catalyst for examining and disrupting systemic racial oppression.

This four-session cohort experience immerses participants in an in-depth exploration of the history and pathology of racism. Through this journey, participants enhance their capacity to engage in meaningful conversations about racism and develop a deeper understanding of systemic racism and its societal impacts.

Participants will:

  • Reflect on their own identity and experiences with race.
  • Explore the historical and pathological roots of racism.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of systemic racism and its societal impacts.
  • Develop a personal plan to enhance critical consciousness.

The Institute for Healing Racism equips participants with the insights and awareness needed to foster a more inclusive and equitable community.
