100 in 100 Kent County Houses First Individuals – Furnishings Needed!

Last week, the Grand Rapids Area Coalition to End Homelessness announced the first two individuals experiencing chronic homelessness have secured permanent housing solutions and additional referrals are being made.

Individuals and organizations interested in supporting the cause can now donate new or used (in good condition) furnishings.

“Public and private partners have rallied to help us advance this effort, and we are really excited about the first individuals who have been successfully housed,” said Courtney Myers-Keaton, Executive Director of the Coalition. “As we expand housing options, we are announcing the opportunity to the community to contribute to the effort by donating specific items to support the campaign.”

What: New items such as blankets, comforters and pillows; new/lightly used dressers, queen bed frames, pans, nightstands, and working microwaves. Please check the website for latest needs – under “Make a Physical Donation.”
When: Fridays starting September 20 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM
Where: Storehouse (located on the rear side of Frontline Community Church at 4411 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525)

This effort wouldn’t be possible without these new partners!

  • Storehouse will be receiving donations of specific goods that will be used to furnish apartments and support new tenants. They are also making some needed goods purchasable at a large discount.
  • Special thanks to Rockford Construction for providing a trailer, Republic Services for providing a container, Habitat Kent for offering support for transporting, and the Heart of West Michigan United Way for partnering to provide individuals with hygiene and sanitary products.
