Ageless Beauty, a small business medical spa in Grand Rapids, is leaving a lasting effect on more than just their clients. As the winter season approaches, owner Felicia Steimel has made it her personal mission to take care of those in the community that are in need.
Having opened their doors on May 15 of this year, the relaxation and medical spa is celebrating its first Christmas season at their location on Wealthy Street. The cold weather has quickly crept into West Michigan, and Steimel realized that she had a responsibility to make a difference.
Steimel created a charitable giving initiative named “Community Sacks” to distribute donations to provide necessary resources such as warm clothing and hygiene products to those in need in the neighborhood.
Unique to many other giving initiatives around the holiday season, Community Sacks has made the entire process easier to get involved. Rather than the shuffle of asking for donated items and collecting them at physical locations, Community Sacks has adopted a “bag sponsor” approach. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to make a financial donation of $25 to “adopt” a bag, and in exchange, they can write a message and have their name featured on the bag itself.
A total of 144 bags are available and will include items such as a blanket, thermal socks, hat and gloves, toothbrush and toothpaste, and deodorant in a reusable, drawstring bag.
Steimel hopes that this sponsorship method will make it easier for others to get involved and save time for those looking to help during the busy holiday season.
“I don’t really have the time myself,” laughed Steimel. “But I really wanted to take the leg work out of it for others and make a difference. Especially around the holidays, we wanted to create something that the community can get involved in.”
Ageless Beauty will be accepting donations online and at their physical location from now through Thursday, December 16. They’re planning to partner with several community development organizations to distribute the bags in areas of the most need shortly after the 16th.
