Grand Rapids Brewing Co. has officially become the new beer sponsor of the Grand Rapids Chamber.

In partnership with the 128 year-old brewery, the Chamber Work Café will keep a fridge stocked with complimentary brews for members in need of a pick-me-up to close out the work day. Our Work Café is a collaborative workspace for Chamber members at all levels to use.

Hump Day Social Hour returns at the Chamber Work Café in partnership with Grand Rapids Brewing Co.In addition to free wifi and unlimited Ferris coffee, starting this fall, the Work Café will also be packed with an assortment of GRBC-featured beers. Each month, one beer in particular will be highlighted. This highlighted beer will also inspire a handcrafted pizza recipe of the month, custom-made by the team at Grand Rapids Brewing Co., which will be previewed at the Hump Day Happy Hour.

GRBC’s pizza of the month was created as a community initiative to support local businesses in Grand Rapids. For the entire month that the specialty pizza is available, the brewery selects a small business and shares a percent of that pizza’s sales with the organization.

The Grand Rapids Chamber is eager to support our home-grown businesses and give back to the small business community. The monthly happy hour event will highlight GRBC’s pizza of the month by providing a sneak peek of the upcoming month’s pizza.

Members are invited to join the Chamber team for our upcoming Hump Day Happy Hour and get a taste of November’s pizza of the month on Wednesday, October 27. See you there!

About Grand Rapids Brewing Co.

On January 1, 1893, six local breweries joined forces and opened Grand Rapids Brewing Company. Over the next two decades, they built a monumental brewery at the corner of Michigan Street and Ionia Avenue, what is now the site of a state office building.

Capitalizing on the location’s ample supply of fresh spring water and a refreshingly drinkable flagship beer, Silver Foam, GRBC became one of the Midwest’s largest and best-known breweries. In 1920, Prohibition brought that success story to a crashing halt. When the bans on alcohol production and sales were lifted, GRBC merged with several other breweries and eventually left town.

In 2012, 79 years to the day after the repeal of prohibition, Grand Rapids Brewing Company opened just 6 blocks away from its original location. Reviving a historic brand in a unique pub atmosphere with creative pub cuisine.

GRBC now offers some of the same beer recipes from 1893, a food menu that encompasses Grand Rapid’s best butchers, bread suppliers, produce, wine and spirits.
