About Me

Andy grew up in Grand Rapids, MI, and recently bought a home back in his old neighborhood. Most of his career has been spent at his family’s business, Herman’s Boy, a well-loved shop in Rockford known for its deli sandwiches, coffee roasting, and baked goods.

While attending Western Michigan University, Andy struggled with addiction, which led to a period of homelessness after a divorce. He turned his life around through Guiding Light Recovery, rebuilding his health, mindset, and relationships. Ready to work again, he became the manager at Hall Street Bakery, eventually overseeing both it and Wealthy Street Bakery before becoming the owner. Under his leadership, the bakeries have thrived, with strong profits, employee retention, and deep community ties.

A year and a half into sobriety, Andy reconnected with Ondrea, a former coworker also in recovery. They married, had two boys (Floyd and Fitzgerald), acquired the bakeries, and bought a home—all within 2.5 years. They’re not just dreamers; they’re doers.
