About Me

D. (they/them/theirs) is a Black queer artist, sometimes poet, social justice educator and lifelong Grand Rapidian. They currently serve as the Assistant Director of the Milton E Ford LGBT Resource Center at GVSU, where they earned a degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. They have led workshops for the Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival, Partners for a Racism Free Community, the Inclusion + Equity Institute, and Grand Rapid Public Schools. As a community advocate, they strive to amplify the voices of the marginalized, with a dedication to translating critical theory into accessible practice. In their spare time, they can be found playing fetch with their cat (he taught himself!) and fine tuning Spotify playlists.
