About Me

MJ Creutz began serving as the Associate Director for the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX (OCRTIX) in May 2022. MJ’s connection to Title IX work began in the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution at Loyola University Chicago from 2016 to 2018. After earning her Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Loyola, she served as a Living Center Director at GVSU from 2018-2022. As an alum of GVSU, she deeply values her relationships with colleagues across campus and appreciates the opportunity to connect her care for students, staff, and faculty to her everyday work in OCRTIX. The reference to Title IX in “Office of Civil Rights and Title IX” refers to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which was enacted to address misconduct on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs. The reference to Civil Rights refers to Title VI, Title VII and other state and local anti-discrimination laws that prohibit discrimination for a variety of protected classes. Informed consent drives MJ’s professional practice as she believes folks deserve to hold the knowledge which empowers them to navigate OCRTIX Resolution Processes as they see fit despite intimidating legal language and federal regulations. When MJ isn’t at work, she is eating, sleeping, sitting on the couch or spending time with friends in nature.
