Growing Business Means a Growing Chamber

Grand Rapids is growing, and your chamber is keeping up.

Nine new businesses have opened in the city of Grand Rapids since July 2023, following a similar trend from the past year. Last fiscal year, Grand Rapids saw 65 businesses open their doors, and community members are excited to see this growth continue.

The new businesses will bring food, beverage and retail options to all three wards of the city, says Rich App, Retail, Retention and Attraction Specialist for the chamber.

“This city is growing in the right way,” said App. “And it’s not growing too fast – that’s the best part about it.”

A Growing Chamber

To keep up with the growing business climate, the Grand Rapids Chamber has added three new positions on its membership team. These three new membership engagement managers, Elmedin Celovic, Hayden Johnson, and Julie VanGessel, will foster business relationships to provide resources and help make an impact in West Michigan.

Dalen Mendiola, the new Director for Business Growth for the Grand Rapids Chamber.

Joining these new staff members is the chamber’s most recent addition, Dalen Mendiola, who will serve as the new Director of Business Growth and help develop the resources members need to thrive.

But staff isn’t the only thing that’s growing – the chamber also recently expanded its coworking space and added nine new meeting rooms to provide more options for business leaders to work and meet in a central location in the epicenter of business.
